Greyhound Station [gone?] Spartanburg, SC |
![]() |
| The Spartanburg station was built sometime after 1939. Although its design is similar to those in Evansville, IN; Billings, MT; and others, it is not believed to have been designed by Arrasmith. Does anyone know if this building is still standing? |

The Columbia station was designed by George D. Brown and built in 1939. It features glass block, blue and ivory vitrolite and orginally had a vertical neon sign. In 1990, the building was taken over by the Lexington National Bank. They kept enough interior features and details to merit an award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The ticket windows were converted into teller windows. The drive-through additions to the back of the former station were done with respect to the original design.
The bank moved out in 2000 and the building sat empty until 2005 (these photos were taken in 2004). As of 2005, the building is being restored for reuse as a plastic surgeon's office. The façade and sign will be preserved. |
