former Colgate factory Jeffersonville, IN |
The main building of the Colgate factory was built in 1890. It had been previously used as a prison. Colgate moved in to the building in 1921 and began soap production. An addition shown in the photos above was built in the 1940s for office space. Colgate moved in 2008 and I believe this building as well as the main one are still vacant. The property is best known for its huge neon clock which is visible from Louisville.
