The Ashland Jewelers storefront appears to be from the 1930s or 1940s. It is faced with structural glass, commonly referred to as vitrolite. For more, see this website.

This Krambo supermarket building now houses a Family Dollar store. It was probably built in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

The Garnishes Catering building appeared to be empty when this photo was taken in 2011. It was probably built in the 1940s. The building features vitrolite tiles and glass block. Does anyone know what was here originally?

Schwartz Manufacturing Company
Two Rivers, WI
This Schwartz Manufacturing Company building was constructed in 1940. The company produces Tuffy milk filters for the dairy industry.

State Office Building
Madison, WI
The State Office Building was built in three stages between 1931 and 1959. The main section was completed in 1939. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

S.C. Johnson Wax Company Headquarters

Racine, WI
The S.C. Johnson Wax Company Headquarters was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Tower was built from 1947-1950. However, that building has been closed since 1981. There are guided tours of the Administration Building's famous "Great Workroom" interior which was designed by Wright from 1936-1939. However, photography is not allowed inside the building. Kaiser's Jewelers was built in 1928. The building now houses Brandt Jewelers. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Porters of Racine

Chester's
Beloit, WI
The Porters of Racine furniture store opened in 1857. The store opened here in 1939. It closed in 2010 and the building has been vacant since then. There are plans to redevelop the building into multiple retail spaces and apartments. The facade will be preserved. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3.

Chester's was established in 1894 as the E.L. Chester department store. This building was constructed in 1936. It was renovated in 2006 and now houses retail space and offices.

Strong Building

The Strong Building was built in 1923. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Crawford Building
Superior, WI
The Crawford Building was built in 1928. The building previously housed the Averbrook drug store and soda fountain.
