GIANT JUNK FOOD
Randy's Donuts
Inglewood, CA
Kindle's Donuts
Los Angeles, CA
Dale's Donuts
Compton, CA

Randy's Donuts was built in 1953 as part of the Big Do-Nut Drive-in chain. There were nine locations built each with a 22' concrete donut on top of their building. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Kindle's Donuts was the chain's first location, built in 1950.

Dale's Donuts was the fifth in the chain.

Donut King II
Gardena, CA
Bellflower Bagels
Bellflower, CA

Donut King II was the third location in the chain.

Bellflower Bagels was one of the later locations. I don't know if their donut was ever mounted on the roof. This donut also seems a little smaller than the others.

Angel Food Do-Nuts
Long Beach, CA
Angel Food Do-Nuts
Long Beach, CA
Daily Grind
Long Beach, CA

The Angel Food Do-Nuts chain must have been inspired by the Big Do-Nut Drive-ins. This photo seems to indicate that Angel Food did own one of their buildings at some point. These two are the only Angel Food locations that I know - both with vinyl type donut signs.

This Daily Grind location appears to be a former Angel Food Do-Nuts. In the 1960s, this place was known as Cooper's Donuts.

The Donut Hole
La Puente, CA

The Donut Hole was built in 1968 and has a 46' drive-thru tunnel between two 26' fiberglass donuts. It was designed by local architect E. Forestal and is the surviving member of a five-unit chain in Southern California. The first one was built in Covina in 1964 but it has been remodeled. The other three locations were destroyed. The La Puente location is open, 24 hours a day.

Maple Donuts
York, PA
Maple Donuts
Etters, PA

The Maple Donuts chain started in 1946. As far as I know, of the four locations in Southcentral PA, only these two have the giant donuts. The Etters location also has this giant donut mailbox.
