OHIO: MISC.

former Sunoco station
Dayton, OH

This former Sunoco station (originally Sun Oil) was built in 1924 and was previously located downtown. In 1982, it was moved to Carillon Historical Park which features many transplanted old buildings. The interior of the building has many old Sun Oil items. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

former station
Hamilton, OH

This building, now occupied by Mr. Motors, appears to be a former station.

former station
Delaware, OH

This former station was built in the 1920s or 1930s. It is octagonal in shape. The square building to the right was probably built later as a service garage. Both structures appeared to be vacant in 2009. The station closed in 1970 and was used as a restaurant before it was abandoned. The buildings were restored sometime after 2006. It was a Marathon station at one point but I don't know what brand was sold here originally. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. There is or was a similar station in Pontiac, IL.

former station
Girard, OH
former station
Coshocton, OH

This Girard station features interesting peaked gables. The building is now vacant.

This Coshocton station now houses Huebner's Auto Care.

former station
Columbus, OH

This former station is now occupied by ColorMagic Carstar Collision.

Northland Auto Sales
Newark, OH
former station?
Newark, OH

Northland Auto Sales was a Cities Service Oil station in the 1920s. The position and style of its chimneys makes me suspicious that this could have been a Pure Oil station instead. In the 1940s, this station was occupied by Sinsabaugh's Oil. More recently, it was known as Highway Oil. It has been Northland Auto Sales since about 1999.

This Newark building might be a former station. It appeared to be vacant in 2009. Does anyone know anything about this place?

Glen Echo Body Shop
Columbus, OH

The Glen Echo Body Shop appears to occupy a former gas station and service garage. There are no signs of any pump islands now. The neon sign looks 1940s but the building is probably older than that.

former station
Wellston, OH
Big Muffler Shop
Dayton, OH
Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Wooster, OH

This former Wellston station was recently used as a used car lot office. As of 2009, it housed a tobacco shop.

The Big Muffler Shop has been a muffler shop since at least the 1970s. In 1940, it was known as McDonald's filling station. Before 1940, there was a Pure Oil at/near this address but I don't believe it is the same building. My bet is that this was a Conoco station.

This Enterprise Rent-A-Car was probably a gas station at one time. The building features glazed brick and two bays at the back. It somewhat resembles Standard Oil's Red Crown stations. Does anyone know more about it?

former station
Parma, OH
former Texaco station
Mansfield, OH

This former Parma station most recently housed a Cash Connection location. The building was vacant in 2009. This might have been a Conoco station originally.

This former Texaco station is now used as a law office.

former Texaco station
Canfield, OH

This former Texaco station now houses Custom by Katherine. The station originally looked like the one in this vintage photo. Another example of this design still exists in Planfield, IL.

former station
Columbus, OH

This former station is now occupied by Valentino's Car Care.
