Tower Court
Albuquerque, NM
The Tower Court is a Streamline Moderne design, most likely from the 1930s or 1940s. The last I heard, the building was still there but the tower had been removed. The rooms were used as apartments.

Aztec Motel
Albuquerque, NM
The Aztec Motel opened as the "Aztec Autocourt" in 1931. The sign is porcelain enamel with neon. In the early 1990s, the motel was run-down when Mohamed Natha bought it and began fixing it up. Phyllis Evans, a longtime resident of the hotel, began decorating her room and then the entire property with tiles, crosses, paintings and other objects. The eccentric artwork still remains. The current owner only allows long-term renters. The Aztec is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. El Vado Motel
Albuquerque, NM
The El Vado Motel is a Pueblo Revival style motor court on Route 66. It opened in 1937 and was originally called the "El Vado Court". The motel sat idle for many years and was threatened with demolition. It is now owned by the City which is exploring ways to use buildings. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

De Anza Motor Lodge [closed]
Albuquerque, NM
The De Anza Motor Lodge was built in 1939 and has been closed for many years. Since 2003, it has been owned by the City which plans to restore it. A developer was chosen to restore the motel in 2006. However, apparently nothing happened with the place in 2007. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

El Camino Motor Hotel
Albuquerque, NM
The El Camino Motor Hotel is another old motor court. In the 1950s, it was known as the "El Camino Lodge". The "El Camino Dining Room" is just across the street. For more, see these photos: 1 and 2.

La Puerta Lodge
Albuquerque, NM
The La Puerta Lodge motor court was built in the 1940s. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [night photo thanks Glenda Campbell]

Luna Lodge
Albuquerque, NM
The Luna Lodge looks like it was built in the 1940s. For more, see this website.

Tewa Motor Lodge
Albuquerque, NM
The Tewa Motor Lodge is another motor court, built in 1946. For more, see this website.
