Bay Bridge Pontiac Buick GMC Cadillac & Chevrolet
Oakland, CA
The Bay Bridge Pontiac Buick GMC Cadillac & Chevrolet showroom was built in 1947. It was originally Connell Oldsmobile with only "Oldsmobile" lettering around the corner drum and "Connell" lettering on the ledge on both sides. As the dealership added other makes of cars, additional lettering was added to the building. In 2011, Bay City Chevrolet moved into the building and removed these signs. For more, see this website.

Casa de Cadillac
Sherman Oaks, CA
Crestview Cadillac
West Covina, CA
The Casa de Cadillac showroom was designed by Randall Duell and built in 1949. For more, see 1, 2, and 3.

The Crestview Cadillac showroom was built in 1962. A Cadillac emblem sign once hung in the tower. For more, see 1 and 2.

Lou Ehlers Cadillac [gone]
Los Angeles, CA
The Lou Ehlers Cadillac showroom was designed by Stiles & Clements and built in 1955. It was originally a Cadillac factory store before becoming Ehlers. The building was demolished in 2008 just after this photo was taken. For more, see 1 and 2.

former Suburban Pontiac
Bellflower, CA
Pasadena Ford & Suzuki
Pasadena, CA
Suburban Pontiac closed in the mid-1980s and the covered-up building now appears empty. The Pontiac Indian part of the sign was most likely neon originally.

The Pasadena Ford & Suzuki building and signage look like they are from the late 1950s or early 1960s.

Formula 1 Motors
Hayward, CA
Autosports International
La Puente, CA
The Formula 1 Motors showroom was built in 1959. The original dealership was Buchanan Olds-Cadillac. In the 1990s, it was a Mitsubishi dealer.

The Autosports International building might have been a dealership originally.

Santa Rosa Chrysler Jeep
Santa Rosa, CA
Sonnen Motorcars
Santa Rosa, CA
Jansen Motor Co.
Santa Rosa, CA
This former showroom most recently housed Santa Rosa Chrysler Jeep. It was built in 1946 and previously housed Chrysler-Plymouth and Dodge-Plymouth dealers. The Barnett Motor Co. appears to have been the original occupant. The building was vacant in 2008.

Sonnen Motorcars occupied this building until shortly after this photo was taken in 2009. This showroom was built in 1939 for Niles Buick. It is located next door to the former Jeep dealership. For more, see this postcard. [postcard scan thanks Alden Jewell]

Jansen Motor Co. occupied this building from 1950-1959. They sold Chrysler and Plymouth automobiles, adding other makes over the years. The building appears to be from the 1940s so there might have been a dealership here before Jansen. Later dealers included Chet Dickson, Chiaroni Dodge and Santa Rosa Dodge which closed in 1990. In 2008, the building was renovated and it is now used as office space for AMR/Sonoma Life Support. For more, see this website.

Nationwide Auctions
Long Beach, CA
The Nationwide Auctions used car sales office was designed by Paul B. Clayton and built in 1963 as the Ray Vines Chrysler dealership. It later became the R.O. Gould Chrysler-Plymouth dealership. Since these photos were taken in 2008, the building was taken over by Worthington Car and Trucks. In 2010, there was talk of demolishing this building for a car wash. This same style building, now gone, was used by Simpson Buick in Downey, CA. There is also another building apparently identical and also built in 1963 in Las Vegas. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [postcard scan thanks Alden Jewell]

Glendale Dodge
Glendale, CA
Star Used Cars
Glendale, CA
Glendale Dodge has a fun mid-century building with canted windows and steel beam legs. This photo is from 2008. By 2011, the dealership was known as Dodge Chrysler Jeep. The red plastic sign on the building was covered up with a new one.

Star Used Cars is just across the street from Glendale Dodge. Their hexagonal building is probably from the 1960s.

Mazda of San Bernardino
San Bernardino, CA
Tate Motors Cadillac
Pomona, CA
The Mazda of San Bernardino showroom looks like it is probably from the 1960s.

The round Tate Motors Cadillac showroom closed in the early 1980s.
