Gunther's Ice Cream was founded in 1940. They have been at this location since 1949. The animated "Jugglin Joe" sign was created at that time. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. Joe Marty's opened in 1954 in the Tower Theatre Building. There was a major fire in 2005 and it appears the bar will not reopen. The sign was once lit at night. Hamburger Pattie's was originally Sam's Hof Brau. Sam's was part of a chain of restaurants opened by Sam Gorden in the late 1950s. This location closed in 1993.
